In the 1930s there were no slaves which was a start, but a much larger step needed to be made on the issue of racism. In 1870 the fifteenth amendment was passed, which made it illegal to keep any race from voting. After that there were still certain laws that made it hard for black people to vote. These restrictions included literacy tests and poll taxes. There was separation of schools, water fountains, bathrooms, and many other items of everyday life. In 1954, the supreme court states that separation of black and white schools is unconstitutional. Today all people can vote, all people can go to any public schools, there are no rules separating black people and white people today. Today we have gotten to the point where, legally, there is no segregation, however there are many examples racism is still around.
Just because it is no longer legally supported does not mean it’s gone. A racist woman insulted a USPS mailman. The mailman was fired even though he kept is temper and stayed calm. A club closed down early one night because a person in management claimed that there were gang bangers outside. There were no gang bangers, just many black people waiting patiently in line to get in.
I think we are fine where we are right now. There have been huge leaps against segregation and racism. We need to get much further, in our ideals and we will. Eventually kids will think nothing of being black or white. Matters have gotten better and they will continue to get better.

A secret place for me is in the trees. I can climb trees better than anyone else in my family. When I want to be alone all I must do to get alone is climb into a tree. We live next to a woods, there are plenty of high trees to pick from. When I am at the top, everything is peaceful. The birds whistle majestic songs. The tree sways every time the wind comes. I can even reed; all I need to do is bring it up with me.
I can be all alone in the trees. When I’m in the trees, no one bothers me. They couldn’t even find me if they wanted to find me. I can be sure of peace and quiet in the woods. Even when someone yells from the ground, it only sounds like a flow of music that doesn’t make sense. No one bothers me; no one finds me; I love my secret trees.

I think it is amazing that the German airports are using bees as detectors for honey. I also didn’t know that German airports gave away honey after a flight. The fact that a bee could be used for detecting hazardous gasses is amazing, though would it hurt the bee? Bees shouldn’t be taking in any poisons eithor. Also does the world even have enough bees to use them to detect everything that might have poison in it. Bees are an important part of ecology they can’t just search for poisons all day. I guess bee farms could be used to grow the number of bees. There may be some problems to work out but the idea is fascinating.

I think it is said that all these children have had their childhoods stolen away from them by the government. Instead of going to school and socializing with friends they are fighting and dieing. Some kids aren’t just losing their childhoods they are loosing their lives. I think it is aweful that the United States might be helping pay them. While the U.S. is trying to make set up a government and they don’t choose how they money is being spent, when do we draw the line. They are already using child soldiers. However the United States is putting more encouragement on not using children. The international justice system is also catching those who use children now. A large step has been made between ten years ago and now, but an even larger one needs to start.

At my old diving club i had been trying to get a front one and a half for a few months and my diving coach said that if I made it just once the whole club could have free time for the rest of practice. It was an advanced diver day so there were only about five people there. All of them started saying you have to get this. I promised them I would pretty much knowing that it would be another few months before I got it. I smacked a few times extremely hard and was about to stop but they gave me some advice about just holding on longer. That time I truly held on a long time. I went into the water in an upside down cannonball but I had made it. Everyone was getting excited for free time however the diving coach didn’t actually give anyone free time. I was still happy anyway because I was just did a new dive for the first time.

My mom was in the Indianapolis area for Medical School, so my dad moved to Indianapolis so that he could marry her. No one was forcing him and he wanted to do it, so it was a pull influence. Once my mom was done with Medical School they both had jobs in the Indianapolis area, so they stayed there. My parents later moved to Zionsville for the great schools and small community and again that would be a pull influence. As for my ancestors my dad did not know why they moved to the Americas. I don’t really have any strong feelings on this at all, because I don’t remember anything else. I used to live in Pike, but I can’t remember it. Zionsville is all I’ve ever known, therefore I can’t say if I’d be happier elsewhere or not. However I can say that I am happy here.

In my literature book i read the question what is really important and it made me really think before we even got the assignment. I always try to not love matierial items, but today people, including myself, would prefer to be with a brand new T.V. rather than with their family. The T.V will bring entertainment, however your family can bring happiness that no item in the world can replace.  I love my T.V. and my computer but I leave them in an instant to go to my diving club to meet my friends. A person could spend a day watching each one of their favorite shows, but a day outside climbing trees can be all the more fun. Items only last ten years or so memorys of an amazing day last forever.
